John Gorman to serve as Head of Facultative and Facilities at Ryan Re

Ryan Specialty, an international specialty insurance firm, has appointed John “JJ” Gorman as Head of Facultative and Facilities for Ryan Re Underwriting Managers (Ryan Re), effective October 1st, 2025.

Ryan Re is the insurer’s managing general underwriter focused on property and casualty reinsurance.

Driven by the flow of business from the Markel renewal rights reinsurance deal, Gorman will initially focus on casualty facultative business.

Gorman is an industry veteran with over three decades of experience in a variety of senior roles in reinsurance. Most recently, he was the Head of Facultative at Berkshire Hathaway, where he started the property and casualty facultative business.
