Barents Re names Callaghan CEO as Garcia transitions to Exec Chairman

Barents Re, an independent reinsurance group, has announced the appointment of Gary Callaghan as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with founder Gerardo Garcia assuming the role of Executive Chairman of the company.

These appointments were approved by the Board of Directors of Barents Re, and remain subject to the authorization of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.

The company states that Callaghan brings “his leadership, professional experience in the industry, a proven track record of success, and an in-depth understanding of our organization” to the CEO role.

As Executive Chairman, Garcia will provide both guidance and strategic direction with his expertise and experience, assisting with the effective communication and alignment between the Board of Directors and management of the firm.

Last April, Barents Re named Jean-Yves Litampha as Head of Compliance.
