CFC appoints SCOR’s Samantha Tanner as Chief Actuary
CFC, the specialist insurance provider with expertise in emerging risk and cyber, has appointed Samantha Tanner, formerly of global reinsurer SCOR, as its new Chief Actuary.
Tanner brings more than two decades of insurance experience in the Lloyd’s market and internationally to the role. She started her actuarial career at KPMG Actuaries in Sydney and moved to the UK in 2007.
She spent the last 14 years with French reinsurer SCOR, most recently serving as the UK Chief Actuary and Strategy EMEA since July 2021.
The insurer’s product portfolio and the countries it operates in have grown enormously over the past 23 years. It is now writing “50 products across 20 classes in 90 countries around the world with a premium run rate of over £1BN,” stated Matt Taylor, Chief Performance Officer, CFC.
Taylor emphasised the importance of strategic deep dives across the firm’s portfolio from underwriting performance to pricing strategies as it expands its business to ensure the delivery of sustainable and profitable growth for the business and capacity providers.
Taylor commented, “Sam is a hugely talented actuary with an impressive track record of portfolio management and identifying new areas for growth, as well as developing strategies for tech-enabled pricing systems – an area where CFC is setting the benchmark in specialist insurance. I am thrilled that we have been able to attract someone of such high calibre and look forward to working together to help CFC achieve its ambitious goals.”

This is the third strategic hire by CFC in February, following the appointment of Nichola Archibald as the Interim Chief People Officer, and Jason Hart as the Head of Proactive Cyber.
