VHV Reinsurance names Emrah Balkan as Assistant General Manager

VHV Reinsurance, a subsidiary of the German insurer VHV Group, has named Emrah Balkan as the Assistant General Manager of the firm as Gürer Baykal steps down from his position to pursue a new career.

Maximilian Stahl, Chief Executive Officer, VHV Türkiye, commented on Balkam’s appointment, “I am thrilled to collaborate with Emrah on all our initiatives, both in Türkiye and in other countries, where our strong brand positioning, international experience, and capital are utilized.

“I am certain he will provide us with invaluable contributions with his sector expertise and the successful endeavours he has undertaken over the course of his career. Gürer will contribute to the VHV family by advising us over the next three months in order to assist Emrah in settling into his new role as smoothly as possible.”

Balkan started his career at AIG Insurance Fire Engineering Insurance unit in 2006. He joined Sompo Sigorta as Corporate Technical and Reinsurance Coordinator in 2016.

He also served as the Assistant General Manager at Türk Nippon Sigorta between 2020 and 2023.

Stahl concluded, “I would like to extend my sincerest wishes to Gürer Baykal, a longtime employee who has significantly contributed to the growth of our organization since our inception in Türkiye, as he embarks on a new phase of his life.
