European boutique Managing General Agent (MGA), Alta Signa Europe B.V., has unveiled an enhanced underwriting structure, marking a significant development in its approach to managing various business lines.

The company, which currently operates in seven European markets, specialises in management liability, financial institutions, professional indemnity, cyber risk, financial crime, and marine insurance.

The newly introduced underwriting structure aims to leverage both local expertise and the specialised skills of Technical Heads of Underwriting.

These newly created positions will play a crucial role in managing relationships with the company’s risk carriers, establishing a robust risk framework for all business lines, overseeing consistent risk selection criteria, and driving new product development.

With a focus on maintaining a strong presence in local markets, Alta Signa emphasises its commitment to combining regional knowledge with international expertise.

The company’s CEO, Gerard Van Loon, highlights the value proposition created by this approach for international (re)insurers.

Key appointments in the announcement include Ingo Trede as Head of Technical Underwriting for Financial & Professional Lines and Cyber, supported by Wolfgang Polzer, Sytse Huidekoper, and Mauro Marongiu in various technical underwriting roles.

Francesco Dubbioso takes on the role of Head of Technical Underwriting for Marine, alongside Barbara Vida and Danilo Fiore in specialised sub-roles.

Van Loon expresses his enthusiasm for the promotions, underlining the strength and depth of talent within Alta Signa’s business.

He notes that the dedicated pan-European underwriting team will further enhance the company’s value proposition, supporting branch management in technical underwriting matters and empowering local teams for continued growth and development.
